Mark W. Boczar is a partner at Life Legal Services – the national life insurance & employee benefits firm – with a passion for representing individuals in claims against their own insurance companies. For his entire legal career, Mr. Boczar has zealously represented his clients’ interests against life insurance companies and employers who have unlawfully delayed or denied payment of life insurance and/or accidental death & dismemberment insurance benefits. Mr. Boczar has fought in federal courts across the country and has obtained millions of dollars in claim payments for his clients over the course of his career.
Mr. Boczar worked in various roles within the insurance industry prior to becoming an attorney and now uses his unique understanding of the insurance industry, and specifically how claims are reviewed/evaluated, to fight back against these same companies. As a commercial lines underwriter for Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Companies (now a member of Tokio Marine), he focused on performing account risk assessments for a wide range of insurance needs for organizations within the sports and recreation market. In addition to his underwriting experience, he worked in the group claims department at ACE Limited Insurance Company (now Chubb), where he conducted research on national and global insurance coverage and liability issues, assisted in the review of complex claims across all global product lines, and conferred with outside legal counsel on claims requiring litigation.
Mr. Boczar earned his B.A., cum laude, with a dual degree in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance from Saint Joseph’s University in 2013. During this time, he served at Vice President of Gamma Iota Sigma; the international risk management, insurance, and actuarial science collegiate business fraternity. He also completed an alternative course program in Bermuda, which focused on alternative risk financing and the reinsurance market. Mr. Boczar received his J.D. in 2016 from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he participated in the Temple Law Global Scholar Program in Rome, Italy and was a member of the Academic Core Enrichment Program.
Mr. Boczar has been recognized for his efforts in insurance law. He has been named to the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, in 2023 and 2024 for the area of insurance law. Super Lawyers recognizes top attorneys nationwide, across a variety of practice areas and firm sized. The Rising Stars rating is a distinction given to no more than 2.5 percent of the top up-and-coming attorneys in each state who are either 40 years of age or younger, or who have been in practice for ten years or less. Mr. Boczar was also named as one of the top 30 Life and Health Professionals under 30 by Think Advisor in 2020.
