Intro
As a human: I am a daughter, sister, wife, mom, and attorney from a very small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania but living in the Philadelphia Suburbs with my husband, son, two dogs, and a cat. I love horror movies, carbs (in the form of pizza), and sleeping in. In my limited downtime I listen to podcasts, write blog posts, annoy my family, and do terrible watercolor paintings.
By trade: I am a life insurance attorney located outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I never set out to do life insurance law…I don’t think anyone really does. But an opportunity landed in my lap while I was in my second year of law school to work as a law clerk in a small life insurance firm in center city. After I got over the initial stresses of having my first legal job, I genuinely started to love it. I worked as much as I could while also attending Drexel Law full-time and worked full-time during my summers off from school. After I graduated, I took the Pennsylvania bar exam, and became licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania shortly thereafter. I immediately went back to work at the small life insurance firm as an associate attorney for several years. Needless to say, I saw tons of law clerks and young attorneys come and go over the years as is the way things go in such a saturated job market in Philadelphia, but I stayed. Why? It certainly wasn’t because I was making the big bucks. It was because I truly loved what I was doing even if it was a small, niche area of the law that most people had never heard about.
Fast forward to present day. Life insurance law is becoming more and more popular, and there is a lot of information (good and bad) finding its way onto the internet. However, I have noticed that a simple search for “Life Insurance” on the internet will bring up approximately 900 insurance company and law firm websites with short, vague, blurbs about common life insurance issues. The reason these blog-type posts are popping up is purely for marketing purposes. The goal: “Give just enough information to show that we know what we are talking about, but not so much that they won’t need an attorney to help them.” How do I know that? I used to help write those short, vague, blurbs for a previous employer and I hated it.
My goal for writing this blog is to do the exact opposite. I want to provide real information based on my experience working in this field to real people that don’t know how to navigate the world of life insurance. I strive to make each and every post accurate, thoughtful, and informative so my readers feel more equipped to deal with their life insurance issues head-on, can search for a life insurance attorney with more confidence, and/or leave my blog feeling more knowledgeable than they did when they came.
